Biography
Brian Bonnici is a Canadian composer and Catholic church musician who creates sacred music to serves the liturgy with reverence. His psalm settings are crafted with careful attention to the text, musical accessibility, and the needs of parish choirs. His music balances beauty and practicality, making it suitable for modest parish ensembles as well as more advanced choirs. Brian’s aim is to support prayerful worship through his music, and hopes to share his offering with a wider audience.
Brian began his musical journey with piano and sacred song as a student of St. Michael's Choir School in Toronto. He continued to study music at York University, gaining a B. Mus as well as a B. Ed. He pursued extra knowledge through private lessons with the esteemed composer Srul Irving Glick, and later with Professor Brian Newbould in England.
Brian began serving as a minister of Music in Catholic churches in 1997. Leading the congregation from the organ, he has directed many choirs and served in numerous parishes across Toronto, including St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica. He is currently stationed at All Saints parish, where he first began attending Mass.
